A birthing doula’s role is to help you have a positive and safe birth experience. During the months before birth, a doula can help you create a birth plan that’s right for you. She will also teach you how to advocate for yourself during labor. This is especially wonderful if you need to or want to labor in the hospital where you’re unlikely to have a close relationship with your medical team.
We are honored to support you through your transition into parenthood. Sometimes as we start planning to have a baby or as new parents, we need a little extra support than originally planned and seek out the supportive advice of an expert. We are grateful that you consider us the experts. We have highly trained Postpartum Doulas, including R.N. Night Nurses.
The purpose of ingesting placenta by the mother is to reintroduce the beneficial vitamins, minerals, hormones, proteins, and other nutrients to her body following labor and birth to help restore a more balanced body function, prevent “baby blues” and the more serious postpartum depression, increase breast-milk production, shorten healing time, increase maternal energy levels, and provide an over-all feeling of wellness to aid in the transition between pregnancy and the early postpartum period in the woman who has just given birth.

A Doula recognizes birth as a key life experience that the mother will remember for the rest of her life. She is with you, as your support person or pregnancy best friend, on the journey toward parenthood to help you have a better experience.
Translated from Greek, the word doula means woman caregiver or mother’s servant. Nowadays, we use the word to describe a professionally trained and experienced birth attendant who provides the woman and her family with continuous emotional support, physical comfort and assistance in obtaining evidence-based information during the childbearing year. A professional Doula has no agenda, is judgment-free, and supports you in your choices. Your birth is your birth. Make it the BEST!

We offer calm encouragement with the reassurance that all is normal. We are by your side with continuous quiet presence.
Doulas help families to feel supported, easing the emotional experience of birth and also helping to create a space where the hormones of labor can work at their best. Whether a birth is completely unmedicated or medically very complex, every family can benefit from nurturing and connection at this tender, incredible time in their lives.
The transition into new parenthood can be vulnerable, and postpartum doulas are experts in emotional support, active listening and encouraging new moms and dads to follow their own hearts. Empathy, a hug or even a good laugh together can do so much for a new parent!
We offer assistance to families in gathering information about the course of their labor and their options. We open the conversation to explanations from their care providers about the how-to and the why. We have a unique blend of non-medical and evidence based advice that we bring to every client.
Postpartum doulas are trained to understand what new babies – and new mothers – truly need. The doula helps with soothing techniques, offers breastfeeding or bottle feeding support, and explains normal newborn behavior.
Our Doulas are highly trained in using Comfort Measures, Positioning, Massage, Breathing, Relaxation, and other non-pharmacological pain relief measures. We know exactly when to use one over the other and when to just do nothing.
It’s all hands on deck with a new baby, and postpartum doulas can help the days go by more smoothly by helping with the baby’s laundry, doing the dishes or preparing simple, nourishing meals.
Bend & Blossom Doulas help you find your voice to advocate for yourself and your family in making confident decisions. We help you find your empowered self.
We are there for you and your partner throughout the process. Remember, this is your partner’s experience, too. It should be a peaceful celebration of family for you both.
Whether it’s a romantic partner, a friend or another family member like the baby’s grandma, the birth partner’s experience matters in birth. Our doulas are there to support every birth partner in being as involved as they’d like with the birth. Physical and emotional support make a huge difference for everyone involved.
A new baby means transition for everyone, including parents, grandparents and little brothers and sisters. Postpartum doulas understand what everyone needs, and part of their role is to help the entire family adjust and settle in.
We wanted to take a moment to thank you! It is people like you that make the world a better place to live in for all of us.
Thank you to the Dream Team at Bend & Blossom!! I just wanted to send along an update from my doctor appointment this morning. The ultrasound confirmed that baby is HEAD DOWN and looking great! I felt him change positions the day after my yoga class with Nicole last weekend, so all of those positive thoughts helped. He's stayed in good position all week so now we just wait and see what he decides to do. He's about 6 and a half pounds and just needs to stay put and fatten up. I just wanted to thank you all for being such a strong source of support and positivity. We are just so thankful for each day that gets us closer to meeting this healthy little guy. I am SO happy (and SO relieved) to share our news...Cameron Michael arrived 12/15/16 at 1:06 am! He is 7lb 9oz and 20 inches of perfection. All is well and we are heading home later today. I can't thank you all enough for making this a positive experience for us both! We are over the moon!!!
Nicole Buratti’s clients are amongst our most educated birthing patients. A good doula is worth her weight in gold… This practice is recommending her services and her classes more and more.”
