Welcome to The Bend & Blossom Method

This training is a deep dive into yoga for pregnancy and women’s health during the childbearing years. It is an 85 hour in-depth comprehensive course that includes two weekends of classroom time, online study, and independent study. Bend & Blossom is an is an 85-Hour Training and registered Prenatal Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. Upon completion, teachers register as a Prenatal Yoga Specialist.

Teachers can register as a RPYT if they have successfully completed both a 200-hour yoga teacher training and an 85-hour prenatal yoga training—in either order—that are registered with Yoga Alliance. Applicants must submit 30 teaching hours in prenatal yoga which must be performed after completing a training with a RPYS (Registered Prenatal Yoga School).

In this course, we will explore yoga for pregnancy and birthing, as well as before and after; including yoga for breast health, the pelvic floor, and postnatal yoga. You will meet a new perspective merging mind, body, and spirit as it relates to pregnancy and the childbearing year.

Become confident, qualified, and comfortable leading prenatal yoga classes in this training that teaches appropriate asana, assists, pranayama, and meditation for each stage of pregnancy. The yoga class is followed by theory, practical application, and practice teaching.

The Bend & Blossom Method: A six-step method combining Mind, Body, and Spirit drawing from ancient philosophy for the modern woman.

At Bend & Blossom, we have a unique way of blending Prenatal Yoga class and Childbirth Education. Through movement and breathing practice, we are preparing the women who take our class to use these tools at home and in labor.

Our training provides an abundance of information about labor, birth, and why yoga is beneficial for this specific stage in a woman’s journey. We explore a sequence that fits mothers in all trimesters and encourages empowerment and strength that is necessary for pregnancy and birth. During Bend & Blossom’s training you will learn far more than how to teach modifications for pregnancy because that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of anatomy during and after pregnancy, and will be introduced to wellness and childbirth education philosophies that can support birthing women. You will also examine the emotional and physical challenges a woman may face during labor and childbirth, and how as a prenatal yoga instructor, you can help prepare her for that experience. The training is full of connection, movement, and fun! You not only discover how to be an advocate for yoga and birth, but what birth really means to you as a woman in this day and age.

We will dive deeper into prenatal yoga, the postpartum period, and your development as a teacher. We will look at the connections of pain and fear, and how they affect birth. You will learn how to hold space and ask the “right” questions to explore what many mothers hold deep in their hearts and bring into their labors. You will gain insight about the mind/body connection of the postnatal woman, and discover what poses, rest, nutrition, and support she will need after her birth.

You will create your own sequence, spend time practice teaching, and will be introduced to a sequence that mamas can practice with their new babies to encourage bonding. Our training is led with the intention that every student will identify their strengths, develop confidence, and find their own voice to use when teaching yoga to prenatal and postpartum mothers.
